Chinese to erect largest tourist cluster at Lake Baikal for $11 bln

According to the statement published on the website of the tour operator on Monday, China will invest $11 billion in tourism development in the area of Lake Baikal, a rift lake in Russia located in southern Siberia, which is the largest freshwater lake by volume in the world.

Within the framework of the project, construction of tourist facilities is envisaged by the plan, as well as the creation of modern related transport and other extensive logistic infrastructure in the area of Lake Baikal and on the adjacent territories.

This move will help ensure a massive tourist flow in the region.

Builders are obliged to strictly meet environmental standards and comply with legal requirements regarding the protection of this unique lake.
