Airport terminal in New Zealand to be expanded

Bay of Islands Airport’s acceptance rate increased last year to a record 87,000 people taking flight to or out of the airport.

The facility belongs to Far North Holdings, a council-owned company, which also operates the airport. According to the company’s representative, the reconstruction works involving expanding and upgrading the terminal will be launched in the 2nd quarter of the next year. The relative tender is scheduled to be conducted.

According to preliminary estimates, the project, which is funded on a commercial basis, will take approximately 10 months. The upgraded terminal will have automated check-in, roomier departure and arrival areas, as well as a separate luggage collection area.
