In September 2015, Universal Studios film studio signed an agreement on construction in Beijing the largest theme park with an area of over 2 million square meters. The project was approved by National Committee for Reforms and Development of China in September 2014. The new park is to be built in Beijing’s eastern district of Tongzhou.
According to a spokesman for Beijing Construction Engineering Group, the first phase of the project, which envisages building Universal CityWalk trade and recreation complex, two resort hotels and a park will be completed in the year of 2020.
Elements of traditional and modern culture of China are included in the project. As it was reported before, Steven Spielberg, American famous producer, would be engaged in park designing.
