Agreement on Kudankulam NPP to be signed by Russia and India

This is what Rosatom’s deputy CEO for International Relations, Nikolay Spassky, told reporters on Tuesday. As a reference, the third phase of Kudankulam NPP includes building the 5th and 6th power units at the facility.

According to him, the work is being carried out on two directions. These are a master framework agreement on the NPP’s 5th and 6th power units and an intergovernmental protocol.

“Negotiations are underway. I expect that the documents will be signed in the near future,” Nikolay Spassky pointed out.

Russia and India have been cooperating in the field of energy for a long time. The first power unit at Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant, built with the participation of Rosatom, has already been commissioned. Construction of the second one has been completed as well.

Russia plans to build a total of 25 nuclear reactors in different regions.
