Russia and EU agree to develop BRELL energy ring

The BRELL energy ring connects Belarus, Russia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In 2001 these five countries signed an Agreement on Parallel Operation of the Power Systems. The countries formed a BRELL loop and committed that their high voltage power transmission networks will operate synchronously as a single system.

Apart from that, following the meeting, the Russian Energy Minister said that the matters concerning cooperation on nuclear energy sector had also been discussed. The parties came to the conclusion to set up a working group for that purpose.
