According to business entities, high electricity costs in Kenia represent an obstacle for investor, despite the fact that the country has East Africa’s biggest economy.
The NPP, which is scheduled to be built by 2027, will add 1,000 megawatts to 2,299 megawatts of electricity currently generated in the country, Kenya’s Nuclear Electricity Board’s acting Chief Executive Officer Collins Gordon Juma announced.
At present, electricity in Kenya is produced from geothermal wells and hydro-electricity dams.
