$150 million power project negotiated by Kenya and World Bank

The project is estimated at $150 million. According to the managing director of electricity distributor Kenya Power Ltd, Ben Chumo, the company “anticipates firm positions on where the project will be situated.”

The Kenyan government is constructing more power plants for the purpose to increase threefold a capacity to 6,766 MW by 2020. It is noteworthy that a large number of the new capacity will be from renewable sources, such as geothermal.

Building the solar-and-wind project is scheduled for the middle of the next year.
