Chechen refugees provided with housing in Ingushetia

Some refugees preferred not to return to Chechnya and stayed in the Ingush Republic. The building was erected within the framework of a targeted program for Ingushetia’s social and economic development, the head of the Republic, Yunus-bek Yevkurov, who attended the opening ceremony on Thursday, told the news agency.

The Ingush leader extended his gratitude to Russia’s leadership for the help and support in tackling housing problems of forcibly displaced persons from Chechnya.

According to the press office, the cost of the facility’s construction amounted to over 213 million rubles. A total area of the residential building is 11,400 square meters.

As a reference, the Republic of Ingushetia is located in the North Caucasus region.  It was established in 1992 after the Chechen-Ingush Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic was split in two.
