According to Alan Garten, a lawyer representing Donald Trump’s interests, the project partners in the abovementioned countries are unable to comply with the terms of the contracts. He stressed that the matter concerned “normal business”, but is not an attempt to avoid conflicts of interest.
Meanwhile, according to the Associated Press, the projects were in some way connected with local politicians, and such a partnership could raise questions after inauguration of Donald Trump.
Earlier last week Trump’s company canceled a licensing deal for the construction of a hotel in Brazil, and before that, it closed four subsidiaries, presumably created for the purpose to implement projects in Saudi Arabia.
