The doubts in U.S. position regarding the resolution are caused by the statements made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump during his presidential campaign, who advocated imposing a veto on the document.
According to Bloomberg, the vote, that was planned for 3 p.m. New York time on Thursday, was called off, since the UN didn’t receive a clear message from the USA on how it would vote.
A draft resolution envisages declaring all Israeli settlements illegal under international law. The document would also demand that the Israeli authorities stopped construction in the West Bank and other “occupied territories”.
