“Since there is no volunteers to build the object for 17 billion rubles, Stroygasmontazh (an asset of Russian billionaire Arkady Rotenberg – editor's note), which is building the Kerch Bridge itself and has a possibility to meet the deadline and cost, was appointed a contractor,” the newspaper notes with the reference to its source in the government.
“After two tenders for contractors were announced and not a single application was submitted, the Transport Ministry addressed Stroygazmontazh with a proposal to consider an opportunity to build an object,” the Transport Minister of Russia, Sergey Sokolov, confirmed the information to Kommersant.
As a reference, Stroygasmontazh is the largest construction company for gas pipelines and electrical power supply lines in Russia.
