Kremlin comments on shutdown of Roshen factory owned by Ukrainian President

“This was a decision of owners, the work was carried out there and the President made statements on that issue. The company could continue with its operation, however, id the shareholders take such a decision, this is their sovereign decision,” Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

Earlier on Friday, it became known that Ukrainian corporation Roshen made a decision to shut down its production at Lipetsk candy factory. A complete shutdown of production and temporary closing of industrial and infrastructural facilities are scheduled for April 2017.

Roshen Corporation is one of Ukraine’s largest candy producers and is owned by the President Petr Poroshenko. During the presidential electoral campaign, Petr Poroshenko pledged to sell Roshen and hired Rothschild investment group and Ukrainian ICU for that purpose.
