According to the newspaper, this solution concerns the increased flow of tourists troubling local residents. Last year, a city with a 1,6 million population was visited by 32 million of tourists.
Non-governmental organizations and residents of Barcelona stage protests, demanding to stop real estate venture that leads to an increase in prices in the area. The protesters also lament that jobs in tourist sector are low-paid.
The new law will limit the number of rooms offered by hotels and will freeze the construction of new hotels.
