“Turkish Stream” construction treaty ratified by RF Federation Council

The official representative of the Russian Government on the issue, Deputy Minister of Energy, Yury Sentiurin, remarked that the agreement creates the regulatory and legal framework for design, construction and operation of the gas main, including favourable taxation and customs modes.

At the same time, he stressed, the new pipeline will not provide for complete rejection of gas transit via Ukraine, but will significantly decrease the risks connected with it.

To remind you, the project provides for the Russian gas delivery to Turkey and to the states of the EU after 2019. The gas main will consist of two lines with the total capacity of 31.9 bn cubic meters of gas a year.

The sea section is 920 km long, the transit land section is about 200 km long. Both lines are to be put in operation before December 30th.
