Russia and USA remain major arms exporters in world

This information provided on Monday by the Stockholm International Institute for Peace Studies (SIPRI), which based its research on the data regarding supplies of major weapons and military equipment. The Institute's database covers the period since 1950, while describing the trends in international military transfers, the experts examined an average performance of a five-year period.

According to the rating published by SIPRI, the five largest suppliers of arms, as before, are led by the US. Their share in a total volume of global arms exports accounted for 33 %. The main customers of the USA are Saudi Arabia (13% of U.S. exports), United Arab Emirates (8.7 %) and Turkey (6.3 %). In general, over the past five years, the United States have supplied their weapons to at least 100 countries.

Russia is the second in the list of the largest arms exporters. Its share in world arms exports accounts for 23 %. Among Russia's main partners, there are India (38 % of Russian exports), Vietnam (11%) and China (11 %). In general, in the period from 2012 to 2016, Russia has supplied its weapons to 50 countries.
