Russian outstanding economist Alexei Kudrin argues against taxing robots

“We don’t mention taxing robots (in the strategy of Russia’s development until 2024). This is not the most appropriate idea,” Kudrin said over the course of his appearance at the Sochi investment forum on Monday, after a moderator raised a question of the relevant proposal made by Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates.

According to Alexei Kudrin, “robots are different and a unit of measure needs to be defined.” Besides, the economist admitted the necessity of social adaptation of people, who become unemployed as a result of production robotization.

“As a result of robotization, profit of high developing companies grows. It is the money from this profit that should be used to help unemployed people,” Kudrin added.
