Relations between Russia and Czech Republic may suffer from uninstalled memorial sign

“The failure to resolve this problem causes a growing resentment on the Czech side that may entail a heightened symmetric reaction against the Russian war memorials in the Czech Republic”, - Vladimir Popov said at parliamentary hearings on Tuesday.

Popov reminded that there was about 1,000 Soviet graves on the territory of the Czech Republic.

He explained that the Samara regional administration had not fulfilled the Protocol’s decisions of the joint Russian-Czech Commission for installation of the memorial sign in the city. “This issue has not been resolved over the course of several years,” he stressed.
