The blaze started at around 4:15 a.m. on the 47th floor of the 52-story building, which is located at 1 Central Park West near Columbus Circle.
Then the fire spread to a second room, however firefighters, who arrived at the scene, managed to bring it under control around 5:20 a.m. The building was partially evacuated.
A person, who suffered smoke inhalation in the fire, rejected being any medical aid.
According to the officials, the fire was caused by an electrical short circuit.
