As Xinhua news agency reports, in particular, in 2017 only, about 20 thousand km of highways will be built there, of which 3 thousand km are high-speed ones. The regional authorities especially intend to boost road construction in the area of the Chinese-Russian border crossings, Manzhouli and at Erenhot.
These highways will increase freight traffic and Chinese tourist flows in Eastern Siberia.
As a reference, Inner Mongolia is located in the north of China, containing most of the country’s border with Mongolia and a small section of the border with the Russian Federation.
