Construction site for Paks NPP in Hungary to be established this autumn

“I think that we will embark on the activities over a construction site establishment this autumn”, — Alexey Likhachev told reporters.

In late 2014, Russia and Hungary signed documents on construction of the fifth and sixth blocks of the only Hungarian nuclear power plant, Paks, with reactors upon Russian VVER-1200 technology.

Russia grant a loan of 10 billion euro to Hungary for the project implementation. Paks NPP is located 100 km from Budapest and 5 km from the town of Paks. The station was built upon the Soviet project, four blocks with VVER-440 reactors operate there. Nuclear power plant produces more than 50% of the electricity generated in Hungary.
