Previously, the Chinese newspaper Nanfang Daily reported citing its own sources that Tesla planned to build a new plant in southern China. “The location for the enterprise has already been selected, and the project is waiting for confirmation from local authorities. If the project is approved, Tesla will announce the project later this year,” the newspaper said.
“Tesla is focused on business in China, but the rumors about the construction of a plant in Guangdong province do not correspond to reality,” the company parried.
Last week, capitalization of Tesla exceeded $49 billion, and the company became the most expensive automaker in the United States. On 3 April, the company reported that, in the first quarter of 2017, global sales of Tesla car brand increased by 69%.
