Ukrainian PM opposes permitting corporations and foreigners to buy land

Last week, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) approved the allocation to Ukraine of the next tranche amounting to $1 billion within the bailout program, while urging “to continue efforts on outstanding sovereign debt.”

The International Monetary Fund called on Ukraine not to postpone a pension reform, including raising the retirement age and the implementation of structural reforms to improve a business environment and to attract investment, as well as to start the privatization and development of agricultural land market.

“Not a single centimeter of Ukrainian land to foreigners! We do not support opening the market for major corporations and holdings, we believe that it is necessary to open the market for Ukrainian citizens”, — Volodymyr Groysman said at a press conference on Tuesday.

He added that the government would soon submit its proposals on the land reform and looks forward to its adoption by the Parliament until July.
