Wintershall asks where billions gone, which EU paid for gas transfer via Ukraine

“European consumers have already paid billions for the transportation of gas via Ukraine. I don't know where the money have gone, but definitely not for the upgrading of Ukraine’s pipeline system.” – Mehren, noting the low technical characteristics of the Ukrainian gas supply system.

“I think that some people in the EU don't understand how gas market has changed over the past five years. I don't see a lack of gas in Europe, what I see is an excessive offer. I see that energy prices are being gradually reducing. Apparently, there is more than sufficient of gas in the world system. If you don't like gas of one kind, go and buy another, and you can obtain it at a different price. That's why I will never understand the argument of being dependent on”, Mario Mehren expalined.

The Chairman of the Board of Wintershall added that there was the need to create more opportunities to obtain gas, thus, it was necessary to discuss the possibility of improving the infrastructure.
