USA aspire to control seaports in Russia amid sanctions against North Korea

The adopted document is an amendment to last year's law on sanctions against North Korea. It expands the powers of President of the United States to impose sanctions against “individuals who violate certain resolutions of the UN Security Council”.

Amendments were approved by the majority of the parliamentarians – 419 MPs with only one voting against the bill.

Now, the bill has to be approved by the Senate, after which the document will be submitted for signature to President Donald Trump.

As a reference, since 2006, the UN Security Council has adopted six resolutions to force Pyongyang to abandon its nuclear and missile development. The last two ones, 2270 and 2321 resolutions were adopted in 2016, and significantly tightened the restrictions.
