Russian businesswoman buys island featured in Blue Lagoon movie

The Nanuya Levu Island with an area of 30 hectares is situated in the island country of Fiji and has become widely known as a locale for a famous romance movie The Blue Lagoon filmed in 1980.

Nevertheless, the new owner was not aware about the island’s star status, and she was just looking for a suitable location for a business project for the building of a mini-hotel. These plans have been agreed with the authorities of Fiji, which owns the land.

Ms Novoselova obtains the ownership of the Nanuya Levu Island for a period of 99 years. She has not revealed the price of the deal, but noted that it was quite reasonable. The minimum cost of an acre of the land in Fiji totals $10,000.
