First voting on new sanctions against Russia to take place in American Congress

The document is based on the draft bill adopted by the Senate in the middle of June, including the decrease of the maximum term of the market financing of Russian banks and oil and gas companies being under the sanctions to 14 and 30 days, respectively. Restrictions against individuals and companies dealing with the construction of Russian exporting pipe-lines. Any company working in the sphere of development, updating and support of the projects connected with Russia all over the globe will fall within the purview of the law, Euractiv online edition comments.

EC services have prepared a list of the projects which will be impacted by the amended bill draft. It includes the Blue Stream, the North Stream 1 and 2, and the Sakhalin 2 expansion.

At the same time, as the document states, new sanctions should not touch the Russian-American cooperation in space and the NASA activities.

The White House is ready to support the new law. In its turn, Moscow has claimed today, that this initiative “lays a dangerous bomb under the foundation of the bilateral relationship”.
