Austrian OMV considers buying assets in Russia

The statement was made during the presentation of the company's strategy for the next six years. As stated in the presentation materials, OMV has a “great potential” in the Russian Federation. Speaking at the presentation, Pleininger said that in the future the company's management is going to consider new acquisitions.

Currently, OMV receives one hundred thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day from the Yuzhno-Russkoye field. Two years later, the Austrians will start gas production from the Urengoy field. This project will be implemented jointly with Gazprom, the Russian gas and oil giant.

And yet, it was not specified which assets are referred to. However, the head of the Austrian concern, Rainer Seele, called Gazprom one of the likely partners.
