Enel puts in operation a 180-MW solar power plant in Peru

The new station has become the largest one in Peru and the first solar power plant Enel has erected in the country. The company invested $170 million in the project. For the purpose of building a solar power station in the city of Moquegua, EGPP will allocate its own funds. Partially, the project will be financed by the European Investment Bank.

Once Rubi is put into operation at full capacity, it will be capable of generating about 440 GWh per year. After the company’s other two projects are completed — that is a wind farm and a hydroelectric power plant — EGPP will become the major actor in the renewable energy market in Peru.
