Spending of foreign tourists on housing rent in Italy grew by 20%

In 2017, travelers spent €39.2 billion on their holidays in Italy, of which €7 billion accrued to housing rent and apartments.

That is why more and more Italians are buying a second home to make money by accommodating foreigners. According to the Bank of Italy, spendings of foreign tourists on their holidays in the country have increased by 7.7% compared with 2016. Two out of ten travelers rented accommodation here.  

Italy is strengthening its position in international tourism. In 2017, the country ranked fifth in terms of the income received from this sector. The countries with higher rankings are the United States, Spain, France and Thailand.
