Russian military is constructing blockchain lab to counter cyber attacks

As CCN reports, the laboratory will be established on the basis of a technology park under construction in Anapa, a coastal Russian city located not far from the Black Sea. Russia’s Ministry of Defense plans to turn the laboratory into a technology center, where about 200 scientists will be initially engaged in studies. Their research activities will be supervised by the 8th Directorate of the General Staff of the Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, a senior official at the Central Bank of Russia announced that at present technology of blockchain is not “mature” to be used on a large scale. Nevertheless, Russia has already made some progress in this area. So, in January 2018, Sberbank — the largest bank in Russia - announced its plans to open its own crypto exchange in Switzerland, since in Russia, operating such platform is not permitted by law.
