New president of Mexico drops his promise to stop grandiose airport construction

According to the source, there will be no immediate suspension of work at the airport's construction site, at least until all contracts concluded for the facility construction have been revised. Also, Lopez Obrador, who will take office in December this year, mentioned three possible solutions to the issue with this expensive airport: to put the facility on auction for sale to a private investor, move it to another site or continue works according to the existing plan. The adviser also noted that the possibility of holding a referendum on the future of the airport was not discussed at a meeting with the president.

It should be noted that during the election campaign, Obrador promised to cancel this “massive project”, "put an end to the corruption associated with it”, and allocate money for the creation of jobs and developing education.
