The state regulatory body of the Turkish energy market has granted a license for electricity generation to the project company Akkuyu Nükleer, which will carry out construction activities at a site of Turkey’s first nuclear power plant.
The license, valid from 15 June 2017, has been issued for a period of 49 years, Anadolu news agency reports on Thursday.
As a reference, an intergovernmental agreement between the Russian Federation and Turkey on cooperation in the field of construction and operation of the first Turkish NPP was signed in 2010. The facility is planned to be erected at Akkuyu site located near the city of Mersin in southern Turkey.
