We would like to bring to your attention a new column entitled “Who is Who”, a monthly rating of the people and companies involved in the construction and utilities spheres who are most often referred to in e-media. You will also find information explaining why these people or companies made the list and you will also be able to leave comments. Today we tell you which constructors were most popular in August.
At the month’s end, the first place in our list is occupied by the Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the RF, Mikhail Menn. He “earned” 2,044 citations in the press, giving places in the top 10 of the general rating to President Vladimir Putin, Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev and some other government authorities.
From our standpoint, the number of citations in mass media is the result of the minister’s activities in August, in particular, his speech at the sitting of the Presidential Council Presidium on strategic development and priority projects on August 1st and his participation in the celebration of the All-Russian Constructor’s Day on August 11th.
The second place is taken by the Deputy Minister and Chief Housing Inspector of Russia, Andrei Chibis: 1,178 citations in mass-media. The largest part of these comes from his announcement of the Ministry’s plans to significantly reduce the terms of hot water outage for winter voiced during his work trip to Tambov on August 4th.
The third most often mentioned person is Sergei Liovkin, Head of the Moscow Urban Development Policy Department, who appeared on TV and media pages 955 times in August. The majority of his citations are from a meeting with journalists on August 18th, where he delivered a report on the last 7 months of his department’s work, and his visit to the “Beijing gardens” complex construction on August 23rd.
The top 10 also includes the Deputy Chairman of the Moscow region Government, German Yelianiushkin; the Chair of the Board of the “Russian Automobile Roads” GC, Sergei Kelbakh; the First Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the RF, Leonid Stavitsky; the Director of the Urban Development and Architecture Department of the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities, Andrei Beliuchenko; the Deputy Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the RF, Oleg Betin; the President of the National Association of Housing Developers (NOZA), and Head of the “Barkly” corporation, Leonid Kazinets and the Director of the Russian Federal Agency of Special Construction (Spetsstroy), Alexander Volosov.
As for the Deputy Chair of the Committee for Housing Policy and Utilities of the 6th State Duma, Elena Nickolaeva, she did not get into the top 10, and is actually at the bottom of the general rating. She was mentioned only 5 times in August by the mass media.
As far as industrial enterprises are concerned, “Sibur Holding” OJSC, producing prime materials for construction insulation manufacturing, is the leader: it was mentioned 1,549 times. It was mentioned most often at the end of August, when the company announced the operational and financial results of its activities in the first half of 2016.
Second place, with 1,398 mentions, belongs to the largest Russian developer, the “LSR Group” company. This developing company is constantly on the pages of the mass media, with at least 50 mentions a day, so it is very difficult to single out the most significant event in which the company took part.
Another housing construction company — “Gosstroy” GC — occupies third place. Similar to the previous company, it is also omnipresent in the mass media. The problems and achievements of the company seem to interest readers very much.
The top 10 also includes some other developers: “PIK GC”, “Dalspetsstroy” affiliated to Spetsstroy of Russia, “Leader” FCC, “Etalon” GC, “Morton” GC, Urban Group and Leader Group.
Final place of the general rating was occupied by 28 different industrial enterprises mentioned in the press only once. We won’t list them, but they include the “Kamenny vek” company, one of the pavement slab producers of Russia.
