According to the Environmental Performance Index (EPI), Russia has risen from 73rd to 32nd position among 180 countries.
This has been noted in a report from Yale and Columbia Universities (USA), the experts of which have decided upon the ratings. They assess health care, water resources conditions, observance of sanitary norms, and environmental protection.
During the last decade these indices have improved by 24% in Russia.
The top five are Finland, Iceland, Sweden, Denmark and Slovenia, and the list ends with Somalia, Eritrea, Madagascar and Niger.
