The President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbaev, does not doubt the “final usefulness” of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).
As the press office of the Head of Kazakhstan reports, he spoke about this in Astana at a meeting with the Chairman of Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Tigran Sarkisian.
In particular, Nursultan Nazarbaev pointed out the current hard times in the world’s economy, and that it is not easy to find new growth points.
"However, these issues are not connected with the work of the Eurasian Economic Union. I do not doubt the final usefulness of our integration. Moreover, many countries are willing to enter the Union and to create a common free trade area. The crisis is a temporal phenomenon, but the general potential… of economies and market volumes remain”, the president said.
At the meeting, the parties discussed the development of the Union, economic contact development with third-party countries, and the general strategy of the members’ activities on the global markets.
In this regard, Nursultan Nazarbaev stressed that membership in the EEU includes both the exploitation of its opportunities and the necessity to contribute to its development.
To remind you, the EEU was formed in 2014 on the basis of the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus. Armenia and Kirgizia have also joined it.
