As it has become known, the Main Directorate of the RF State Expert Review has issued positive findings on one of the “Rosatom” subsidiaries regarding the project to construct an underground laboratory.
The “Rosatom” press office told Construction.ru that the project envisages the creation of an underground laboratory to explore the possibilities of the final insulation of 1st and 2nd class radioactive waste in the Nizhne-Kansk granitoid massif in Krasnoyarsk region.
The laboratory will be set up at a depth of 500 meters, inside a huge rock in a forest near Zheleznogorsk City. The customer, the “The National Operator on Radioactive Waste Handling” federal state enterprise, will now have to get a permit for the object’s construction.
Before that, positive findings on this project had been issued by the Public Ecology Expertise and the State Ecology Expertise.
In case the licensing process is successful, the work on this special construction site might start as early as this year.
