If the European commission shows interest, Russia is ready to offer them a pipeline construction project under the Black Sea. The initiative is similar to the “South Stream” project.

This is what Dmitry Peskov, the press spokesman for the President of Russia, told reporters in Moscow on the 23rd of March. According to him, such projects are being developed, but everything will ultimately depend on how constructive the European commission will be.

Long-term pipeline contracts are beyond the competition in terms of their reliability. At the same time, Dmitry Peskov reminded us that the head of the concern, Alexey Miller, has recently signed, whilst in Italy, a memorandum on the Black Sea floor exploitation project for gas supplies to Greece and Italy.

As for the “South Stream”, the project doesn’t exist anymore because of the stance of the European commission.
