Russia’s largest greenhouse facility yet, with a capacity of 100,000 tons of tomatoes and cucumbers per year, will be built in the Russian town of Michurinsk, located in the Tambov region.
The large-scale project requires investment estimated at about 25 bln roubles, reports the TASS news agency.
The total area of the complex will amount to 107 hectares, which represents 18 greenhouses. The first part of the facility, with an area of 54 hectares, will be put into operation in October 2017, and the second part, with an area of 53 hectares, in September 2018.
Having reached the estimated capacity by January 2019, tomato and cucumber production will amount to about 100,000 tons.
Over 1,700 new jobs are to be created at the enterprise.
