The Syrian authorities have invited companies from Russia to take part in the construction work and modernization of oil refineries in the country.
This is what the Prime Minister of Syria, Wael al-Halqi, said in an interview with RIA Novosti. In particular, he noted that the Oil and Natural Recourses Ministry of Syria has strategic projects in the field of fuel and energy complexes.
First of all, this includes the geological exploration of oil and gas fields both on land and in the coastal shelf area.
Beside this, Wael al-Halqi emphasized investments in the exploitation of an excess amount of processing capacities at the oil refineries in the cities of Holmes and Baniyas, a partnership in the construction of the joint “Ferkalas” oil refinery in which Russia, Iran and Venezuela are taking part, and the Baniyas refinery’s modernization.
