One of the top officials of the regional department of the Federal Service for State Registration (Rosreestr) has been detained in the Russian city of Novosibirsk on a charge of grand fraud over land plots.
The fraudster’s actions have robbed the state budget of 240m roubles, the press office of the regional police told Construction.ru.
The investigators established that in August 2013, one of the heads of one of Rosreestr’s departments in the Novosibirsk region presented fabricated data on a land plot to his subordinate.
This helped to transfer the state-owned land plot in perpetuity to an agricultural enterprise in the Novosibirsk region. Later, the official included this land plot in documentation describing the boundaries of one of the region’s residential area.
As a result, the farm land has fallen to the “residential area land” category and was subsequently sold at a price of 240m roubles.
At present, the detained official is charged with abuse of power, with heavy consequences, and has been taken into custody.
