On the 16th of June, the President of the European Commission, Jean Claude Juncker, is going to visit the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, RIA Novosti agency reported on Monday, referring to the official representative in Brussels.

According to him, a high-ranking European politician plans to outline the potential for future relations between Russia and the EU, as well as the perception of the European Union and the current state of relations between Moscow and Brussels. However, observers expect there to be nothing new in his statements.

Jean Claude Juncker is likely to voice five principles to be observed in relations with Russia, which the heads of Foreign Ministries of EU countries agreed in March. The president of the European Commission will also reiterate the idea of the necessity that Russia fulfill its Minsk agreements.

Mr Juncker is also expected to declare Brussels’ intention to cooperate with Russia in the field of international affairs, including Iran, the Middle East, Syria, Northern Korea, migration, the fight against terrorism and climate change.
