The director general of the “Rosatom” state corporation, Sergei Kirienko, and the permanent secretary of Zambia’s government, Margaret Miyoba, have signed an intergovernmental agreement. The ceremony took place on Tuesday, at the “Atomexpo-2016” forum in Moscow.

This document creates the legal basis for cooperation between two countries in the areas of construction and exploitation of nuclear energy objects, research reactors, radioactive isotopes, and staff training for Zambia’s nuclear industry.

Following the signing ceremony, Sergei Kirienko stressed that the construction of a unique Nuclear Science and Technologies Center in Zambia might be their first joint project. For that purpose, 20 Zambian students will start their education in Russian nuclear universities each year.
