Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, Nikolai Patrushev, recommended that the authorities of the Republic of Karelia should carry out repair work of the regional roads, Interfax reported on Friday.
“It's important to bring the roads into compliance. This is especially essential for Karelia, where 70% of regional roads and over 80% of local roads don't meet set requirements”, - said Nikolai Patrushev over the course of a meeting on the subject of the road traffic safety, held in the city of Petrozavodsk.
The RF Security Council Secretary has also drawn attention of the Republic's authorities and the local government that the roads property registration hasn't been completed, some highway markings were absent and there was no required level of illumination.
