The start of serial production of unmanned vehicles under the well-known Russian KAMAZ brand is scheduled for 2025.
This announcement made on Thursday a director general of the company, Sergei Kogogin, at the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg.
He pointed out that such vehicles will start trial run in a test mode on KAMAZ roads as early as 2018.
One unmanned vehicle KAMAZ has already provided for the Russian market, added Sergei Kogogin.
The Russian government has allocated 300 million rubles ($4.5 million) in the project of an unmanned vehicle. 90 million rubles are to be invested by KAMAZ.
According to the company’s assessment, potential demand for unmanned vehicles is high, especially in such sectors as the oil and gas, agriculture and housing.
