IKEA to invest $2,1 bln in modernization of its stores in Russia

IKEA Centres Russia intends to invest no less than $2,1 bln in development and modernization of its 14 trade centers in Russia.




A large-scale reconstruction will be carried out in two IKEA malls located in the Moscow region, the Wall Street Journal reports on Wednesday. Following the modernization, a shopping floor space is planned to be expanded by 15 – 20%

Over the course of the coming ten years, the company plans the construction of new malls in the East of Russia. However, at present, IKEA policy is focused on expanding of the existing ones.

Today, 14 malls host about 200 shops, which are annually visited by about 275 m people. As a reference, in Russia 14 malls of MEGA have been united with IKEA ones.
