This morning the Federal Security Agency (FSB) operatives and the representatives of the Investigative Committee of Russia conducted searches in the St Petersburg headquarter of the “North-West” Federal Highway Administration (“Sevzapupravtodor” federal state institution).

According to the local media, special forces are engaged in the investigative operation within the framework of a criminal case over abuse of authority. Simultaneously, 20 more premises in Saint Petersburg, the Leningrad region and Moscow have been searched.

These are offices of commercial entities connected with work contracts of the Federal Road Agency’s North-West department, as well as apartments and detached homes owned by entrepreneurs and Agency’s officials.

Investigation believes that the public servants, suspected of the power abuse, have been led by the Federal Road Agency’s official at least the rank of the Deputy Head of the Agency.
