In 2017 – 2020, the authorities of the Republic of Crimea intend to build five new large water basins in addition to the existing 23 ones.
This is what a director of the Department for Water Resources and Hydrometeorology State Policy and Regulation of the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources, Dmitry Kirillov, told RIA Novosti on Friday.
He said that the decision of the construction of each basin will be taken on an individual basis following the project study and examination of its feasibility.
As a result, water availability of Crimea is planned to be significantly increased, what, in particular, will affect the agriculture development. Today, there are 8 water basins in the North Crimean Canal and 15 more in river beds.
