POSCO E&C completed the building of a $250 million waste-to-power plant in Krakow, which will become the largest one in Poland.

Last November, the former owner of the facility, Krakow Communal Holding, gave the company a permission to use the facility, after having conducted the trial operations.

This is the waste incinerating plant processing 220,000 tons of household waste per year. The facility operates in an environment-friendly way. Usage of the incineration heat, allows it to produce 11MWh of electricity. Thus, the plant supplies 35MWh of district heating. Moreover, its ash will be used as the material for the road construction.

In May, the plant was awarded by the Association of Polish Architects for the best design.
