According to the Tourism Ministry of Oman, construction work on a $2,5 bln project featuring pearl-shaped buildings might start as early as next year, Gulf Business reports on Wednesday.
The Omagine project in Seeb will feature 7 pearl-shaped buildings with hotels, offices, residences and entertainment venues occupying one million square feet of land.
As Omagine chairman Frank Drohan put it, there are discussions on the subject of securing funding with entities in the United States, Europe and China. Its necessity was caused by falling oil prices.
The project was ratified last year. According to the plan, there will be 3 hotels, a boutique trade center, open amphitheatre, exhibition area and over 2,000 restaurants and entertainment zone.
