In the 21st century, approximately in 30 – 50 years, a tunnel will be constructed under the Bering Strait, that would connect the USA with the “New Silk Road” established by Russia and China.

This message was conveyed by the former Senator from Alaska, Mike Gravel, in an interview to TASS news agency. According to him, Moscow and Washington might significantly benefit from the construction of the tunnel.

This is absolutely feasibly and not more complicated than to construct a tunnel beneath the La Manche. The country’s leadership should better develop such projects, unifying the nations, rather than issuing threats, noted the former Democratic United States Senator.

The length of the tunnel under the strait would amount to approximately 80 km and in prospect magnetic cushion train will ply from Canada through Alaska to Russia and further along the route of the “New Silk Road”.
